The first time I saw Dr. Carol Swain was when she was testifying on Capitol Hill as a part of the same panel as Comedy Central un-funnyman Stephen Colbert. Colbert was there to "Sarcastically Argue for Farm Workers" before a House Judiciary Subcommittee & basically embarrass himself, which he did.
Dr. Carol Swain was there to address issues concerning immigration and migrant workers, and she was impressive. I was an immediate fan. I wished that Colbert could have been kicked out of that hearing so that I could have heard more from Dr. Swain. I felt bad for Dr. Swain that she'd been invited to partake in that disgusting example of Congressional abuse of our governmental system.....and, that was the FIRST time I'd ever seen or heard of her!
That hearing on Capitol Hill took place in September of 2010. Since then, I've learned that Dr. Swain was a high school drop-out, a teenaged mother, had attempted suicide, and is now a professor at Vanderbilt University, author, and is an extremely accomplished woman. Over the past year or so she's been a contributor on FOX News, although, I wish she was on more often. I've read any news stories that I've seen about her and I'm a subscriber to her YouTube channel where she'll upload random interviews, forums, or speeches in which she partakes.
Today, I received the gem below in my email inbox from Carol Swain's YouTube channel. It is a 6-minute mini-documentary about her life that appears to be part of a longer documentary entitled "How Can America Survive? The Coming Economic Earthquake" from Truth in Action Ministries. This documentary is set to air in 2 parts on the weekends of April 29 and May 6, 2012 on Truth in Action Ministries (formerly Coral Ridge Ministries).
Dr. Carol Swain is an inspiration and should be held up as an example for everyone in this country. She embodies that "can do" spirit that all Americans should respect and try to emulate, myself included.
Please, take six minutes and watch the video below, then share it with everyone you know. "Dr. Carol Swain" should be a household name. I wish everyone could know about this amazing woman.
